Sunday Morning Series (Moor St) - April-May 2026

Songs of Victory

How do you fight your battles?

What challenges are you facing at the moment? Have you ever received upsetting news, or found yourself on the wrong side of an argument?  Did you ever try to deal with something, only for it to go wrong and blow up in your face?  Have you been through some scrapes that have left you scarred, hurt or wounded?  Every one of us faces circumstances, situations and experiences that challenge our responses.  King David is one of the heroes of the Bible, being described as a man after God’s own heart.   And yet most of his life was spent fighting battles, some forced on him and others the result of his own mistakes.  He was a worshipper as well as a warrior, and we find an insight into his perspective and approach to the battles he faced through the songs he wrote that reveal the secrets he learned about living in the battle.

Our new series will look at some of his experiences recorded in six popular and familiar Psalms that he wrote in response to situations he went through.  By helping us understand the background behind each of these Psalms we can learn how to fight the battles we face using the lessons David learned that allowed him to worship God in every situation.  This series will help us grow in our faith by putting in place healthy discipleship foundations so we can sing songs of victory whatever life throws at us, developing Godly characteristics along the way.

19th April: Strengthened by His presence
26th April: Lifted by His praise
3rd May: Protected through obedience
10th May: Freed through holiness
17th May: Shaped by the desert
24th May: Freed through gratitude

Week of Prayer 2026

20th-23rd April 2026

Our next week of prayer will be using the idea of the tabernacle to help us  draw close to God and be inspired to pray and hear from Him. As we learn from the different parts of the design that we read of in the book of Exodus that point us towards Jesus, we can draw inspiration and prophetic insight to help us bring our prayers and intercessions before Him, and take time to dwell in the presence of God and hear what He may want to say to us.

Join us as we construct a physical Tabernacle space in our Moor St worship space where you can take time out to spend with God in a creative setting.

What might happen if you were to set aside just one hour during the week to stop and be in the presence of God?

Following the positive feedback from the last “Question Time” panel that we ran following the “People of Purpose” series, we are going to run this panel evening again for our next Equip training event on Sunday 3rd May.  This time the focus will be on “questions of faith” and will be an opportunity for people to submit questions on any aspect of the Christian faith that you have questions about and  would like to ask, and will be an opportunity for you to put Pastor Chris (& friends!) on the spot.  Questions must be submitted in advance via mel.harrington@burtonelim.com

Planning your Visit

New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

We are "One Church in Two Locations" and  meet every Sunday at 10:30am at both of our buildings.

  • Moor Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 3SU
  • Princess Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 2NR

We have limited parking at Moor Street and sadly there is no dedicated parking at Princess Street, you will need to find street parking nearby, but there is usually parking not too far away and we would encourage you to plan to arrive in time to find a space.

More details can be found on our locations page

What should I expect when I visit?

You will receive a very warm welcome at both of our locations, and our Welcome Teams will be happy help and answer your questions.

Each week our services
have a time of sung worship, communion and a Bible based message relevant to today.  We encourage our congrgeation to participate and so there is usually opportunity to pray, be prayed for, and share words of encouragement.

Refreshments
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served before the morning service at Princess Street and after the service at Moor Street. Both venues offer plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service in both congregations so we can worship together, before going out to their own age related activities.  We do ask that for safeguarding reasons, children are pre-registered when you arrive.

We have a fantastic Sunday based Church for Kids programme that runs in our community centre building (The Corner) across the road from the main building.  We ask parents to accompany their children across the road, and also to pick them up once the service has finished.  Every Sunday we offer:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years) in our small family room at the rear of the main church building
  • Little Stars (3-5 years - Pre-School age)
  • Shooting Stars (5-7 years - Infant School age)
  • Comets (8-11 years - Junior School age)

Princess Street

Our children's work runs in a room behind the main worship area in the same building as the main congregation, and every Sunday we offer a single 5-11 year olds group

Is there anything for Youth?

Asset 1

Our Youth Work, Limitless, runs at our Moor Street congregation, and is for 11-16's.  As with Kids Church the youth join with the main congregation to begin with before leaving part way through the service to their own age related activity.

Their programme varies week to week; usually they meet in the room behind the platform in the main building, apart from on the second Sundays when they join with the Church for Kids in The Corner building, and on fourth Sundays they saty in the main congregation adn are encouraged to get involved.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
