Building Project Update

Building for the future 2
We have now received Listed Building approval from the council for teh repairs adn refurbishment works.  We currently developing some initial “sketch” proposals for the new development work we want to do.  At this stage these will be a very simple concept that will be submitted to the council as a “pre-application” for discussion and negotiation to help us agree what we are allowed to do with the building.

Burton Elim Bible Week July 21st-24th

Preparing the Bride: The Return of the King

Elim What We Beleive - Web Ban

The cry of the church for the last 2000 years since Jesus returned to heaven has been “Maranatha – Lord Come!” Over the centuries, the church has longed for Jesus to return, and it is a core belief of the church that one day there will be a physical bodily return of Jesus Christ. But what does that mean?  What will happen when He returns? What is the Tribulation?  Does the Bible say anything about the Rapture? Where does Armageddon fit?  Is there a final judgement? What happens when we die?
John’s vision describes Jesus’ return as being like a bridegroom coming for His bride, and Jesus asked John to write down what he saw to help the church get ready.  Jesus never wanted us to be in the dark about His return, nor did He want us to lose heart when we go through difficult or scary periods of history.  Rather He wants us to know He has overcome the world and is coming back for us.  Our bible week this year is intended to help us gain a better understanding of these things to help us be equipped to live more effectively as Jesus’ disciples.

“Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.”
(Revelation 19:6-7)

Monday 21st July: 1: Understanding the God Story

Session one will introduce the week and set the scene. We will explore together the biblical metanarrative to understand where the second coming fits within the “big picture” of God’s redemptive plan.

Wednesday 23rd July: Understanding the “Signs of the Times”

Session two will explore some of the key biblical prophecies about the end times to help us gain a clearer perspective of what the Bible teaches about the return of Jesus.

Thursday 24th July: Understanding the End Story

Our final session will attempt to demystify what the Bible says will happen in the last days, seeking to put this into a clear framework that makes sense of the different events that we read of in Revelation.

Our Bible Week will be an in-depth study of what the Bible teaches, looking more deeply into things than we can normally do on a Sunday.  We want to help you understand what we actually believe as Christians, and if you would like to attend our Bible week we would ask you to help us prepare by please registering for the sessions you plan to attend

Preparing the Bride: Current Sunday Morning Teaching Series

Main Title - PTB

IJesus is the Coming King, and He is coming back for a pure spotless bride (Eph 5:25-27).  But what condition is the bride in?

Jesus said he would build His church, and in the letters to the seven churches in Revelation we have a picture of Jesus taking a walk around His church to see how His bride is looking.  What He sees is a very mixed picture – whilst there are some bits that are beautiful, there is a lot that upsets Him and is unattractive and He asks John to write to the seven churches to challenge them to take an honest look at themselves.  His challenge is to put on their bridal dress – or risk missing the marriage.
Written to seven actual churches that John was the overseer of in modern day Turkey, none of these churches exist today.  In the book of Ezekiel, the prophet sees a picture of the presence of God leaving the temple, only to return after a period of judgement. In a similar way, the story of the seven churches should warn us of what can happen if we lose sight of whose we are and what our Coming Bridegroom expects of his bride.

How are we looking?

Planning your Visit

New to Church?

Welcome! Whether you've just moved to the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about our Church.

Key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?

We are "One Church in Two Locations" and  meet every Sunday at 10:30am at both of our buildings.

Moor StPrincess Street

Moor Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 3SU and Princess Street, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, DE14 2NR

We have limited parking at Moor Street and sadly there is no dedicated parking at Princess Street, you will need to find street parking nearby, but there is usually parking not too far away and we would encourage you to plan to arrive in time to find a space.

More details can be found on our locations page

What should I expect when I visit?

You will receive a very warm welcome at both of our locations, and our Welcome Teams will be happy help and answer your questions.

Each week our services
have a time of sung worship, communion and a Bible based message relevant to today.  We encourage our congrgeation to participate and so there is usually opportunity to pray, be prayed for, and share words of encouragement.

Refreshments
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served before the morning service at Princess Street and after the service at Moor Street. Both venues offer plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the kids at church?

Children stay with their parents at the start of the service in both congregations so we can worship together, before going out to their own age related activities.  We do ask that for safeguarding reasons, children are pre-registered when you arrive.

We have a fantastic Sunday based Church for Kids programme that runs in our community centre building (The Corner) across the road from the main building.  We ask parents to accompany their children across the road, and also to pick them up once the service has finished.  Every Sunday we offer:

  • Creche (0 months to 3 years) in our small family room at the rear of the main church building
  • Little Stars (3-5 years - Pre-School age)
  • Shooting Stars (5-7 years - Infant School age)
  • Comets (8-11 years - Junior School age)

Princess Street

Our children's work runs in a room behind the main worship area in the same building as the main congregation, and every Sunday we offer a single 5-11 year olds group

Is there anything for Youth?

Asset 1

Our Youth Work, Limitless, runs at our Moor Street congregation, and is for 11-16's.  As with Kids Church the youth join with the main congregation to begin with before leaving part way through the service to their own age related activity.

Their programme varies week to week; usually they meet in the room behind the platform in the main building, apart from on the second Sundays when they join with the Church for Kids in The Corner building, and on fourth Sundays they saty in the main congregation adn are encouraged to get involved.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
