During the current crisis as a Church we are utilising the technology available to us to be able to keep in contact with everyone. Zoom has been a great tool to be able to do this. If you have any questions about using zoom please do get in touch with us here
Below is a short video created by Derby City Church that will help you with using Zoom - the main thing to remember is once you have connected to the meeting, you need to approve the audio to be able to hear and be heard.
Can I share zoom link with others?
We ask that you DO NOT share this link with others, even if you know them to be a member of the church. If someone would like to join our meetings please ask them to register on the Church Website.
If someone is having trouble connecting, please get them to contact email@example.com
I have seen Zoom in the news - is it safe?
We have been following closely the reports about zoom over the last week including incidents of people 'Zoom-bombing' meeting and privacy issues. We have made the decision to carry on using it but with extra precautions in place. As this is a 3rd party app we would recommend that you read Zooms Privacy statement before signing up, so you are aware of the information that Zoom collects. - You can still use zoom without creating an account.
All our meetings are 'hosted' this means that only those that are accepted into the meeting can join - we will be only accepting those with usernames that match contacts within our database. Those that are not recognised will not be permitted into the meeting.
All our meetings are password protected and details only sent out to those on our mailing list.
Hosts monitor the meetings, and can mute microphones and turn off peoples cameras - should we need to remove someone from the meeting we do have the ability to do this as well.
What is Zoom and how do I get it?
Zoom is an online video conferencing platform, it will allow us to interact live with those that choose to join our meeting.
You can download zoom for free on your computer, mobile phone or tablet. When you click the Join Meeting Link - it will direct you to download the app.
Do I need to do anything before my zoom meeting?
It would be really helpful if you have zoom downloaded and ready to join us before we start. if you click the Join Zoom Meeting link given to you, it will guide you through to download the appropriate app for your device.
Please also note, that for you to be seen & heard by the group, you will need to make sure you have enabled your camera and microphone. Zoom will prompt you to do this on coming into the meeting.
You do not need to register an account with zoom to join, but when you join you will be asked to set a username, please use a name we can recognise you from so that we approve you quickly.
